He Saved Bruce Wayne.

The Shadow again. I found all the old 1930-late1940's radio shows on Itunes under podcasts and best of all they are free. I cannot stop listening to them while I'm drawing. I've become a fan of this character.

Here is the pitch Ill draw a pin-up of any character for a copy of Batman 253 or 259. These books came out during 1979. Both books have stories involving The Shadow. One of the stories tells how the Shadow saved a young Bruce Wayne life. Cool. Well hope to do business.

Some Sequential Art No Word Balloons

This page was alot of fun. Its a short story that takes place in the roaring 1920s. My friend Andrew Konietzky wrote this story as a roll playing game like World Of Warcraft. I think he said the game went on for nine weeks.
Drawing a period peice is a challenge, you have to draw the land scape the cloths the hair styles etc, etc, etc to be convincing an accurate. Destination Swipe file. I did not have to go far for the desk. I own this desk. I collect old plastic radios and I wish I owned the one in the drawing. The phone the lamp and typewriter are mine too. I was reading an old National Geographic at school that interveiw Walt Disney. The artical explained his animation process. Walt Disney collected and used his National Geographics to reference clothing ,cars, and buildings. There is a picture of him standing in front of his collection with dates writen on top of the shelves 1900-1964.
References are a unsung hero in the tool pallet.
I got to go to school.
Well here is a page. I have three more pages I'll be posting soon. Take it easy .

The Shadow Knows, Michael Loria

I found on I tunes the 1930s radio show "The Shadow". Great stories to listen to while I'm working on my art. I found out that "The Shadow, aka Lamont Carnston" saved the young Bruce Waynes life. You can read that story in Batman #? well I know it the story was released in December of 1974. But the Shadow first apeared in a Batman comic book #253.

Here is a sketch. Enjoy

Welcome to Sketchbook Adventures!

I have always enjoyed stories of high adventure, mystery, Scifi and classic horror. Im a bit of a history buff too. I was comissioned to draw Captain America. They wanted him to appear relaxing. This peice just spawned out of my imagination. Normaly I charge more for multiple characters but this piece was so much fun to draw so I charged the regular price. I do a little graphic design on the side so I made this piece in to a period Life Mag. cover. Enjoy Capt. America, Bucky, Willie & Joe, an a faceless G.I.
